helllooo!! this might be pretty short and jumbled, but I just wanted to add another blog post!!
soooo, I have a boyfriend, and we've been together for about a year and a half :]] I love him very much, and we go dates to this one specific cemetary a lot. It's the biggest in our county, having over 80,000-ish people buried there, and dates back to colonial times, pretty cool, right? so, as I mentioned before, it's pretty massive. We usually go to this sitting area down in the Veteran area, or sit on a bench in the pet cemetary when the bugs aren't so bad/it's not too hot (the sitting area tends to be cooler 'cuz it's surrounding by trees/always covered), but sometimes we walk to something called a "witches circle". we were under the assumption that it's because there were supposed witches buried there-- but no! literally not at all! It has the family of one of the richest families from our area, who opened the first distillery in our town, which is known for it. Everyone buried there has really nice granite stones, which I don't know if they orignally had those or they got updated, because due to the cemetary being so old, a lot of grave markers are made with limestone (which weathers really fast/is very fragile). a little further back was another set of graves-- and we thought that belonged to the witch-- but no! it was just a civil war captain and his family buried back there. Their daughter who died at 16 had her own grave, it wasn't shaped like a grave and I kicked it on accident D: I apologised to her though. It was borken off from the top, and was made with limestone. I had to run my fingers on the inscription to read it, it was so weathered. Meanwhile the larger family marker (that also acted as the captain and his wifes gravestone?) was made with granite, but the base was still limestone. So it was updated pretty recently! We looked it up, and literally the rumor never was that there were witches buried there, it was just that witches gathered at it because it was enclosed by a litte circular half-wall (which was very normal for rich families at the time to be buried in a circular manner around the bigger, spire-like family marker!), and sometimes the workers had to scrape candle wax and pry coins from the seams because some 15 year-old pagans weren't respectful and left the remnants of whatever ritual they did D: apparently there was a warlock guy buried too, and he had a bunch of boulders put over his body to prevent him from rising. which was bull, because it was a FAMILY MARKER!!! a bunch of hocus pocus, me thinks. but yeah!!! my boyfriend and I explored a little more than usual, we accidentally went down a hiking trail looking for the ""real witches circle"" but soon realized we were led on a wild goose chase. RIP. it was nice weather and it was amazing to see my boyfriend again though :] he's pretty busy because of work, so i'm always really happy when I get to see him :]]] very cutie patootie, that boy is. anyway buh bye!!! thank you for listening (more like reading) my rambles!! be good and don't be a pain in the heiny :DDD |
